Understanding The Glossary of common wireless network terms on the web

Nowadays new technology is coming all the time and the market is so over flown of the new technology that sometimes we find it difficult to know, what a device does and how it works. Sometimes even it is difficult to remember the nomenclature of the gadgets. Today let us discuss the technical terms commonly used by for the wireless communication technology and what can we do using these devices-

The Glossary of common wireless network terms

DLNA-Digital Living network Alliance

It was originally named Digital Home Working Group [DHWG]) and was  founded in June 2003 in the leadership of SONY by a group of consumer electronics companies. The aim of Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) was to develop and promote a set of interoperability guidelines for sharing digital contents among multimedia devices.

The Digital Living network Alliance is a wireless technology commonly used in Cameras, Gaming Console, Media Player, Smartphones, Smart Televisions, Tablets, etc. it may be used by two distant devices to share contents using wireless network and printing using compatible printer is also supported.

NFC-Near Field Communication

Near field communication (NFC) is a set of protocols which enables smartphones and other wireless devices to connect with each other through radio communication. The Near Field Communication is used for low range as it prepares low range magnetic field. In this system the devices may be touched or located in the area covered and not beyond the coverage area(The distance is typically less than 10 cm). This system connects the devices in the coverage area immediately.

Wi-Fi-802.11 wireless technology

Categories of the Wi-Fi are decided on the basis of its standard. At present Wi-Fi standards 802.11B, 802.11G, 802.11N, and 802.11AC are in use. The Wi-Fi 802.11AC is designed to work up to a speed of 3.6 MBPs and available in selected routers(Modems). Like past Wi-Fi standards - 802.11ac is backwards compatible with 802.11b, g and n. 802.11AC is faster than the 450Mbps (0.45Gbps) the highest speed of 802.11n routers.

Wi-Fi-Direct wireless technology

The Wi-Fi-Direct wireless technology(It is also called Wi-Fi P2P) is used to establish direct wireless connection between two devices. Normally both the devices are required to use the same wireless network. In Wi-Fi-Direct wireless technology devices detect network and get connected. Wi-Fi Direct, is a Wi-Fi standard which enables the devices to connect with each other directly  and  for this it does not need a wireless access point. It is capable of doing anything like internet browsing file transfer, in addition to communicate with one or more devices simultaneously.

WiDi-Wireless Display technology

This is a wireless technology developed by intel corp. You must have a WiDi ready computer and you have to add WiDi attender to the TV to be used. Through this technology you can transfer your content wirelessly to a computer or TV. If the computer is WiDi ready, you will need to attach the WiDi attender to  any TV and then you will be able to transfer the contents. WiDi enables users to stream music, movies, photos, videos and apps wirelessly from a compatible computer to a compatible HDTV or through the use of an adapter with other HDTVs.
