The newest and best ever operating system Windows 10 was released July 29, 2015 is available to download for those having genuine copies of Microsoft Windows and Windows 8. Since its release, Windows 10 has been installed in millions of computers and working quite satisfactorily. You can prepare a bootable CD or USB which can be used to install on your computer as fresh installation on reinstall in case of an unfortunate crash or other trouble. Instead of a compact disk a USB Drive must be preferred as per the opinion of experts considering its read/write speed and easy maintenance.

There are 2 options available at Microsoft for this purpose -
- You can prepare a bootable USB drive.
- You can prepare a bootable CD/DVD by downloading Windows 10 ISO File.
Download size – 2.85 GB say 3GB
What you need to prepare a Windows 10 Bootable USB Drive
- A blank USB drive of not less than 4GB capacity as the download size is 3 GB and some extra space is needed.
- A Windows 10 Compatible PC.
- Genuine Windows 8, 8.1 or Windows 7 running on your PC(Those running Windows 7 Home will get Windows 10 Home and Those running Windows 7 Ultimate will get Windows 10 Pro)
- A network connection
How to prepare a Windows 10 Bootable USB Drive
First of all you have to download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. This tool is different for Windows 10, 32 bit and Windows 10, 64 Bit. If you don’t know, which system you are using. Click ‘Control panel’, then ‘System and security’, and then ‘System’. Here under ‘System’ heading you will find your system type.

(1) After checking your system type, you have to download the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool as per your existing system.
Download Windows 10 Media Creation Tool for 32 Bit
(2) After installing the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, launch it. Now you will be asked, “What do you want to do”. You will be given 2 options “Upgrade this PC now” and “Create installation media for another PC”
(3) Here you have to choose “Create installation media for another PC” and click next.
(4) On the next screen ”Select language, architecture and edition” three options will appear “Language”, “Edition” and “Architecture”
(5) In the Language column choose language, For example I choose “English(united States). Please note that if you choose “English(United Kingdom)”, you may face key board layout problem.

(6) In the Edition column choose – Windows 10 Pro or Home, depending on your existing Windows.
(7) In the Architecture column choose – 32 bit+32) or 64 bit(+64) depending on your system. The following lines may be helpful for you-
- Those using Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, editions of Windows 7, Home or with Bing editions of Windows 8 and 8.1 must choose Windows 10 Home.
- Those using Professional, Ultimate and Pro editions of Windows 7, Pro, Professional, and Professional with media centre editions of Windows 8/8.1 must choose Windows 10 Pro.
- Those using single language editions of Windows 8/8.1 must choose Windows 10 Windows 10 home single language.
- Those using Chinese language editions of Windows 8/8.1 must choose Windows 10 China.

Please make your selection carefully and click next.
(8) Now the screen “Choose which media to use” will appear. Here you will be given 2 options,
“USB Flash Drive” and “ISO File”. Please select “USB Flash Drive” and click next and follow the easy instruction.
Care – The USB drive used will formatted therefore be careful to check for any useful content on it.
