How to increase PC Storage To Boost PC Performance
While I purchased my first PC in the nineties, it contained a 500 MB hard drive but since then size of hard drives has been considerably increased and reached to TBs(1TB=1024GB). Thougu Hard drives are available in TBs but the most of us are using Hard Drives of less then or of 500 GB. Those using smaller Hard drive may face a problem of free space. Free space on our Hard drive may effect the performance of our PC so let us discuss on the remedies. If you see low disk space errors when trying to install a large software, or if you just want to free up disk space, here are some things you can do to improve your PC performance-
1. Run Disk Cleanup. This tool is provided by Microsoft within your Windows and it removes temporary files, Temporary Internet files, empties the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of system files and other items that you no longer need. For more information.
2. Uninstall old programs. In addition to deleting old files you no longer want, you can also remove a number of programs that you no longer use. T unstall a program, Clicking the Start button>click Control Panel> clicking Programs> clicking Programs and Features Select a program, and then click Uninstall. Some programs include the option to change or repair the program in addition to uninstalling it, but many simply offer the option to uninstall. To change a program, click Change or Repair. You must be logged in Administrator otherwise you will be prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Delete all but the most recent restore point. System Restore uses restore points to return your system files to the state they were in at an earlier point in time. If your computer is running normally, you can save disk space by deleting the earlier restore points. For more information, see Delete files using Disk Cleanup.
4. Archive old files to CD or DVD. If you have old photos or documents that you want to keep but don't necessarily want on your computer, consider archiving them to removable media, such as a DVD or CD. That way, you’ll be able to view them whenever you'd like, but they won't take up space on your computer.
5. Add another hard disk drive. Adding an external hard disk drive is an easy way to create plenty of extra space to store digital photos, videos, music, and other files and to clear some space on your primary hard disk. To install an external hard disk drive, all you have to do is plug it in to your computer and connect the power cord. Most of these hard disk drives plug into a USB port, but some plug into a Firewire port (also known as IEEE 1394). 6. Use Online(Cloud) Storage OnDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox Etc. To store your data online is also an easy way to free up space on the Hard Drive of your PC. OnDrive, GoogleDrive, Dropbox all are reliable.

i. Some of these strategies might not work in Windows Server 2008 R2.
ii. If you move your music files from your computer's hard disk to an external disk, you might need to change settings in your media player so that you can play the files from their new location.
