LED, LCD, CRT Monitor TV, Display Devices A comparison
There are various types of Computer Monitors and display devices are being used by people. Each type of device has it’s own merits and demerits. At the time of beginning of the computer era there was only one type of display device and this was the CRT monitor. Though this monitor has some demerits like heavy weight Energy inefficiency and polluting nature yet the CRT monitor is still in existence besides a development of development of less polluting, light weight and energy efficient monitors like LCD(Liquid Cristal Display) LED(Light Emitting Diode) etc. below are the specifications of each type of monitor TV or display device-

CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) Monitor, TV or a display Device
This Type of monitors TV or other display device use CRT. CRT basically is a vacuum tube or an electronic valve. It contains one or many electronic guns. It contains, Anode, Cathode,, Control Grid. A fluorescent screen is used for display. It has means to accelerate and deflect the electron beam(s) onto the screen to create the images. But here we are not going to discuss it’s Engineering but we can say it is the oldest method used fro display purpose and it is still in use.
This type of Monitor, TV or a display Device have very low Energy efficiency, High rate of pollution, heavy weight and ugly shape. More harmful to human eye and health.
LCD(Liquid Cristal Display) Monitor, TV or a display Device
An LCD screen instead of a CRT is based on pixel(Picture Element) technology. Each pixel of an LCD device typically consists of a layer of molecules aligned between two transparent electrodes, and two polarizing filters one parallel and another perpendicular. In idle condition before power input the most common liquid-crystal device in use the, the surface alignment directions are perpendicular to each other and molecules arrange themselves in a helical structure. This results rotation of the polarization of the incident light, and the screen appears gray. While large voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules in the center of the layer get completely untwisted but the polarization of the incident light is not rotated because it passes through the liquid crystals. This light which is mainly polarized perpendicular to the second filter will be blocked and the screen will appear black. Different results to form images are obtained by applying varying amounts of controlled voltage across the liquid crystal in each pixel.
This type of Monitor, TV or a display Device have very good Energy efficiency, low rate of pollution, light weight and beautiful shape. less harmful to human eye and health.
LED(Light Emitting Diode) Monitor, TV or a display Device
A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a two point semiconductor. It resembles a basic pn-junction(A p–n junction is an interface between both types of semiconductor material, p- and n-type, inside a crystal of semiconductor) diode, When an LED's anode lead is applied a certain voltage more positive than its cathode point(it’s another point) which must be least the LED's forward dropped voltage, current flows. Electrons are able to recombine with electronic holes(A mathematical and conceptual opposite of an electron is called an electronic hole) within the device, which release energy in the form of photons. This is called the electroluminescence. Color of the light is controlled by the energy band gap of the semiconductor.
This type of Monitor, TV or a display Device have very high Energy efficiency, low rate of pollution, light weight and beautiful shape. less harmful to human eye and health.
